The Associated Press is reporting that Jerry Brown, the Cowboys practice player who died in a drunk-driving accident last month, was sober at the time of the crash. Brown’s teammate, Josh Brent, had a blood-alcohol level twice the legal limit when the car he was driving crashed. The two had been partying at a nightclub, and neither was wearing a seatbelt when the car careened out of control.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office reported Thursday that Brown died of head and neck trauma when their vehicle overturned. He had a dislocated neck, a severely bruised spine and a blood alcohol content of 0.056 percent. That’s well below the Texas drunken driving standard of 0.08 percent.

We’ll go ahead and ask: WHY WASN’T BROWN DRIVING?
