I know what you’re thinking: This one isn’t even a dish. But you will be thanking me once you accept The Green Grocer’s Popeye into your life, because the benefits are impossible to refute.
There aren’t many other palatable ways to get this much spinach into your day that don’t involve bacon, butter or fatty dressing, and there’s a whole bunch of other good stuff swirling around in this plastic cup. Not to mention the drinkable salad actually tastes good.
It’s the almond butter and banana that combine to give the Popeye its dominant flavors, and a touch of honey lends just enough sweetness. It tastes so good I was compelled to lift the recipe and proceed to make my own version of the Popeye at home for weeks.
Considering the majority of the next 52 dishes contain meat, cheese or both, you should be excited to down a healthful smoothie. It may not look as exciting as a Rueben sandwich or a thick tavern burger with beads of juice and grease cascading down its surface, but your tastebuds will be pleasantly surprised and the rest of your body will be grateful.
