An Ariel Pink show is always exciting, mainly because you never know if the L.A. singer will go off the rails or spiral into some nonsensical glass case of emotion while performing. With a backing band, The Haunted Graffiti, in tow for the last few years, he’s straightened himself out, and 2010 saw Before Today, an album that eschewed the echo-y cassette clunk of his earlier material for something nearly “pop.” The newly released Mature Themes follows suit, and features a cover of the obscure Donnie & Joe Emerson song “Baby.” Moon Diagrams and Bodyguard open.
