When I first saw Lightning Bolt in a dingy club in Brooklyn a decade ago, I did not foresee the Providence duo still being around in 2012. Not that they weren’t good enough: That performance, in which drummer Brian Chippendale and bassist Brian Gibson set up on the floor and proceeded to make the club’s pillars actually vibrate is still one of the most raw, vicious, primal invitations I’ve had the pleasure of accepting. They just seemed like one of those bands that was too good to sustain. I was wrong, and they have been touring a few new songs, which might even point to a new album. Fort Worth’s Drug Mountain return from hiatus, fresh off prepping a new album of their own, to assault your eardrums. Denton’s Wiccans open.
