We all know Jerry Jones’ grandiose vision: For the Dallas Cowboys to play in Super Bowl XLV.
Furthermore, to be the first team in NFL history to play in a Super Bowl in its own city. Everything’s bigger in Texas, including the dreams.
But odds – and next season’s schedule – say it ain’t likely to happen.
The NFL is a year-to-year, even a week-to-week league these days. But the Cowboys seemingly will have the NFC’s toughest schedule next season. Ouch.
Dallas faces both Super Bowl teams – the Colts and Saints – and only three games on the schedule (Detroit and Washington twice) are against teams with a 6-10 or worse records in 2009. Overall, Cowboys’ opponents have a .543 winning percentage (139-117).
Only two teams – the Texans and Titans – have tougher schedules based on opponents’ winning percentage in 2009.
Good luck.
