Big weekend planned on the SMU campus, where Laura Bush will deliver the commencement address Saturday morning at Moody Coliseum to the some 2,000 Mustangs escaping the Hilltop. But in advance of the weekend shindig, there are tomorrow’s honorary degree
recipients symposia featuring some fairly bold-faced names: Harold W. Attridge, Dean of Yale University Divinity School; Arthur Mitchell, who did for dance “what Jackie Robinson did in baseball”; and novelist Alexander McCall Smith, responsible, of course, for the No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series.
All three are scheduled to speak before being presented with their honorary degrees; a full schedule of tomorrow’s events is available here. Then, there is this note of interest for Mustang trivia buffs: “For the first time in SMU’s near-century of existence, the University’s
graduating class will wear red and blue during Commencement ceremonies.” Fancy.
