As it does before every election, The Dallas Morning News has published a series of candidate questionnaires probing hopefuls for their views on a number of city topics.
To the DMN‘s credit, the survey’s question about the proposed Trinity toll road is both thorough and specific.
“Do you support any roadway inside the Trinity River levees including alternative 3C or a smaller road as described by the mayor’s ‘dream team?’ Please be specific.”
The 3C option is the big, honkin’ road that supporters really want.
Here’s Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings’ answer:
“I believe the Trinity River Corridor Project will be the most transformative capital project for Southern Dallas, as well as all of Dallas, in the 21st century. I believe that, done properly, the Trinity can accomplish the goals of increased connectivity between North and South, and provide world-class parks and public spaces for all Dallas citizens.”
See there, the mayor’s given another clear, definitive answer to the framing issue of this election. Now let’s get on to the important stuff.
